Gardenia (Arabian Jasmine) is an evergreen flowering plant. It has shiny green leaves and fragrant white flowers. The plant has cylindrical to flat branches that are furry at first becoming smooth.The leaves are arranged oppositely or in groups of three along the branches. The leaves can be oblong-lanceolate, obovate-oblong, obovate, oblanceolate, or elliptic in shape. The flowers are loosely funnel-shaped, and double in form. Blooming in summer and autumn, they are among the most strongly fragrant of all flowers.
It has very close resemblance to Ananta but its flowers are single petal.
